Suggestions for Parents and Students Experiencing Hotspot Issues

  1. Turn off all devices that are not needed during online class including checking to make sure no other devices are on the hotspot. The more devices on the hotspot, the more  demand on the internet connection.

  2. Prioritize online class during live classes. Do not let others use the hotspot while a student is in class.

  3. Exit all other programs on the Chromebook to ensure that bandwidth is only used for learning. Do not have something open in another tab like a game or video.

  4. Have the student move closer to the hotspot

  5. Move the hotspot closer to a window or external wall, especially if there are concrete walls

  6. Log out of any streaming service like Netflix or YouTube as they use data even when not watching.
